MARRIED COUPLE team up to GUN down

imagesAn unusual attack carried out by a Muslim married couple living in the United States with their six months old baby shocked the nation including family members.

imagesAt approximately 11 o’clock on Wednesday morning the 28 year old Syed Rizwan Farook along with his wife 27 year old Tashfeen Malik left their six month old baby with her grandmother saying they had a doctors appointment. The couple had planned the attack which was to take place at Farook’s employment location, the couple dressed in their tactical attire walked at the social service Centre in California and brutally shot and killed 14 innocent people. The suspects left 21 people wounded, and many families mourning for their loved ones. After two minutes of the 300 police arrival on the scene, the suspects fled in a black SUV.

imagesOfficers tracked  down the couple, 14 hours later at 3pm after a car chase the suspects were gunned down after 76 rounds of shoot outs with officers. Two officers were injured and the couple were killed.

This marks the deadliest shooting since the 2012 School shooting in Connecticut. The young couple seemed to have been planning this attack as we see with the number of explosives and weapons found in their Redlands home. CNN shows us visual images of what is now called a “bomb land,” owned and created by the couple. We see pipe bombs, weapons and thousands rounds of ammunitions as well as other bomb equipment stored in their home.

What many don’t know is how the explosives were obtained and the big question which is yet to be answered like the many other killings is simple…Why? We all want to know why this took place.

The truth is yet to be revealed due to the simple fact that only the people committing these acts know the answer to the million questions. All we can do is assume, increase police force to protect the community and also find reasons by talking to psychiatrists and even family members of the people taking innocent lives. However, Farook is said to have been in contact with radical Islams whom believed to have radicalized him.

The massacre shocked the nation especially for those who knew the couple well, their neighbor mentioned on CNN how normal and happy the couple seemed. She says she did not notice suspicious activities conducted by the couple, and would not have guessed that such an act would take place. Farook’s coworker, who spoke to CNN was very emotional as he explained the horrific moments he experienced as the shooting took place. A surviver of the killings, he had actually gone to the bathroom before the shooting took place. In the bathroom he heard gun shots taking place, and had no idea what was going on in the office. He is very much surprised and says he had known Farook for some time, and shared the discussions they had about Farook’s six month old baby.
Farook’s brother in-law Farhan Khan who is married to one of Farook’s sister is in disbelief of the shooting, he tells CNN how he had never heard the couple argue, and that the couple was very private.

President Obama’s Paris shooting remark was simple and clear, the President said something along the lines that some Muslim leaders who are against the terrorist attacks are not taking any actions nor are they doing anything against the extremist committing the killings and attacks.

Bevin urged supporters in the audience to encourage others through social media to vote and take advantage of voting in remembrance of the veterans who lost their lives in order for citizens to vote.

Bevin said there is a need for people to go out and reach out to others and encourage friends and neighbors to vote their values and not their party.

He also answered questions pertaining to college students, education, Kentucky’s education system, election, opposing candidates and the reason college students should vote for him.

“If you want somebody who embodies the values of who Kentucky is, of who we are, somebody that’s pro-life, somebody endorsed by Kentucky right to life, somebody endorsed by the NRA and the gun owners of America, somebody endorsed by the national federation of independent businesses than I will be grateful for your votes, you know that, get out there and make believers of people, encourage them to vote their values,” Bevin said.

WKU Students take stance of solidarity

On Wednesday November 18, WKU students all dressed in black came together in Downing Student Union in a peaceful manner for a stance of solidarity with the University of Missouri.

Elizabethtown graduate student Andrea Denise Daniels said that the stance is an opportunity for students of all races, sexuality and creeds to come and stand together against systematic racism and many other issues facing students on campuses across the nation.

“It’s just our way to support what’s happening at Mizzou and to stand in solidarity,” Daniels said. “I think sometimes people are afraid to come together and that’s what we are doing.”

Daniels has also been in contact with students at the University of Missouri, Yale and Harvard University discussing the status of black students and what exactly is taking place on their campuses.

“We can come together in a peaceful manner and stand in solidarity,” she said.

Among the students was Lacretia Dye, assistant professor in counseling and student affairs, in all black standing alongside the students in solidarity for the University of Missouri.

“I am here representing myself as an individual and not an organization or an entity,” Dye said. “I am here to support and model solidarity in regards to black lives matter as well as some of the blend and racism that occurs in college campuses.”

Dye said she believes that people should be aware of issues going on at college campuses such as the University of Missouri, raise awareness themselves and then act on it.

“Anytime there is a situation of community, I think that change can occur, anytime there is a change of thought or communication of solidarity with the masses I think change happens,” she said.

China’s Economy

Christine Lagarde on China’s economy.

According to BBC, Christina Lagarde, head of the International Monetary Fund, believes that China’s economy will obtain its momentum this upcoming year.

Lagarde went on to say that they are seeing massive transitions.

For decades it has been double-digit growth, however, in 2014 the economy slowed to 7.4%.

According to the government it predicted growth to drop to 7% in 2015.

The International Monetary Fund predict growth of 6.8 %.

Lagarde says the emerging markets, and overall economic changes around the world are producing new positions to cope with lower commodity prices.

The International Monetary Fund, Lagarde says, is supportive of the transition taking place concerning China’s attempts of shifting from export to consumer economy.

She mentioned that the country’s government should communicate well with the world on the status of their economy, concerning its currency exchange rates and interest rates.

This week at the Fund’s meeting in Peru, Christine Lagarde stated that she is open to serve a second term as her five-year term as head of the International Monetary Fund expires in mid-2016.

Oregon College Gunman left behind a declaration

On Thursday at Umpqua Community College, a student, Chris Harper Mercer shot and killed nine students and later committed suicide.

In the document left behind, Mercer complained about being single and not having a girlfriend.

In an apartment not too far from Umpqua college, Mercer lived along with his mother, Laurel Margaret Harper.

In the interview with the police, Ms Harper mentioned the mental problems Mercer had been diagnosed with such as Asperger syndrome.

In 2008, Mercer was discharged from the US Army due to not completing basic training, however he was looking for a girlfriend according to online postings.

Mercer singled out Mathew, one of the students, and told him to give the police an envelope which had a computer hard drive inside.

Mathew’s mother told CNN that her son had to watch the killings of all the other students as he froze, afraid to look away.

On Friday, President Barack Obama will be visiting the survivors and family members of victims.

The women in Africa, a good and means of punishment.

Lets help STOP the violence in many parts of the world, like AFRICA…

Image

Being a woman in Africa is seen more as a disadvantage, women have no value; they are seen as puppets; some are beaten on and abused. Despite the fact that the women are the mothers of Africa, they are taken for granted and are seen as weakness. It seems to be a crime to be a woman, now more than ever women from different countries in Africa are seen as goods and a way to punish a community through abduction, rape and ongoing massacre. A woman is forced to be a housewife, follow religion, tradition, culture and not take on the responsibility to support the family or will be subject to face death. From an early age men are taught to find a women and make babies, men are the providers and women are imprisoned staying at home doing house chores. Like men rituals, girls before reaching their adolescent lives are enforced on a list of rules, somewhat a structure on how to live which incorporates if not all, some of these guidelines: Wake up early to clean the house; have breakfast warm and ready, stand by her husband and do as told.

However men are not taught to value women, whom are the sisters and mothers and not just wives. A beating and various kinds of punishment is what the women faces when she does not follow her husband’s wishes, she puts her life on the line for her family. Many women die due to the abuse faced on an everyday basis, women are raped, some forced off they innocence and till this day justice is not served. I will present few of the current crisis faced by women and young girls in some parts of Africa, politics is corrupted, the government is not doing enough to change the situation, other Presidents seem to work alongside the people behind the massacre, terrorism and the ongoing violence. The civilians have no power, the ones hiding face death while the ones speaking out face death as well, there seems to be no hope.

Not long ago in Kenya a policewoman was suspended from her duties due to a “tight uniform”, what seemed more like her body perfectly shaped through her uniform became inappropriate. Her unusual bottom was the cause of the situation, Linda Okella was told to find something more appropriate, due to her body shape the uniform was not decent. There is no respect, apparently a uniform should not be “tight”, your body should not be “shaped” through your uniform or there will be consequences that shall be faced. Linda Okella was exposed, talked about with no dignity and not as a law enforcement official, she was simply punished because of a body she was born with, something that is impossible to change.

April 14, 200 girls whom were mostly Christians were reported kidnapped by the now famous Islamic group “Boko Haram” which in English means “Western Education is Forbidden”. Innocent young girls abducted and taken away from a school ground in Chibok by a group of armed men. Afraid for their lives, the girls sat quietly while cooperating with cruel men as pictures were taken and videos filmed of them being surrounded by armed militants with harmful equipment such as guns and machetes. Civilians have been protesting with signs saying “Bring Back Our Girls”. The Government is laying all options on the table to have the little girls brought back safe and unharmed. The girls were forced to convert to the Islam religion.

Image

In Kano Nigeria, a couple of months after the 200 school girl’s abduction, more than 20 women and three men were kidnapped in broad daylight. Young women taken by force by armed men from what seems to be the “Boko Haram” group and have not yet been located. The women will be used as objects and will be released as an exchange for items such as: kettle, Food, money and other desired materials.

Image

In many parts of the world, like Africa religion is used as a weapon, the Islamic religion are using crime as a means to impose on their strict living standards belief. Women are facing outrageous life circumstances, as objects are exchanged on business transactions so are women exchanged with goods for their lives. The world is watching as lives are taken for granted, thousands killed and cruel men continue on their everyday activities. In Africa War, genocide, terrorism, rape, kidnapping and gender affiliated crimes are evolving and growing as Africa seems to be sinking into a whole. The United States, China and the United Kingdom amongst other countries sent equipments to help locate the “Boko Haram” group, individuals across the world are holding up signs saying “bring back our girls”.

No one knows how long it will be until PEACE is restored in countries like Somalia, Congo, Nigeria, Kenya and many parts of the world. The more help increases, the more violence multiplies. The cry of innocent people is the only option for many to end the violence. With no knowledge of when justice will be served or when peace will occur and whether the lives of many will be restored. Lets start now and also join in on the thousands who are for the peace and NO TO VIOLENCE. Any act that promotes peace for the ongoing deaths around the world contributes to something and definitely changes a life.

The Knowles sisters IN ACTION!!!

Now we know where Solange learned her fighting moves!.  The two sisters sure have a lot more in common, apart from the classy characters with outstanding musical talents. There seems to be something the rest of the world did not notice…the raging fist fighting divas.

Beyoncé Knowles and sister Solange Knowles are no longer artists but also wrestlers in the music industry.  Not long ago did we watch the surprising and shocking video at the Met Gala after party on the 5th of May.  The footage shows Solange Knowles expressing her anger towards brother-in-Law rapper Jay Z in the elevator. As if trained by a professional boxer, she sure threw some punches and perfect karate lesson kicks to Jay Z.  Although help came on the way for the rapper, Solange Knowles was held up by a number of bodyguards and still managed to throw more kicks.  In the midst of what seemed like a party gone wrong, Beyoncé poised calmly watching her husband receive some “beat downs“.

It is not just Solange who is a protector, but Beyoncé who also revealed her inner side by going over a ledge for her husband Jay Z against well-known rapper 50 cent.  The two men were having a conversation and Queen B thought they were “beefing” or rather having a heated argument, with no hesitation using her dancing moves jumped off a ledge and came face to face with 50 cent to protect the love of her life.  Beyoncé will do anything to protect her husband, like putting her life on the line. To “squash the beef” or end the dispute, apologies were made and together they are moving forward.

This has definitely changed many views for the fans, yes, we are all humans but when your life is an open book and you are constantly being watched can such actions be prevented? and whose role models are they now?

Cristiano Ronaldo’s series injuries

One of the greatest soccer players and undoubtedly the only chance for Portugal’s victory, Cristiano Ronaldo will not have it easy for the 2014 UEFA champions league.

Unfortunately for Portugal, Cristiano Ronaldo has had a series of injuries, and yes right in time for the World Cup. A hamstring in late November during the 5-0 rout in Almeria where he had to sit out and not participate in a two-week game . A second sudden injury happen in the same month where a painful knee forced him to exit a game.  He had no choice but to miss the Real Madrid quarter-final versus Borussia Dortmund.  On April 16, the player missed the Spanish Cup final and the last three games of the Spanish first division games. Portugal is doing everything it takes to make sure they star player is ready for the World Cup.

However it is still not sure whether Cristiano Ronaldo will join in for Portugal’s first two exhibition games in the United States.

Will Cristiano fight off the injuries and play the first games?, but most importantly how will his performance be once he sets foot on the field?

This year will be a much different ball game for Portugal, while everyone is worried whether Portugal will make it, the thousands of fans are hoping CR7 recovers well.

The Russia, Ukraine and Crimea conflict is said to be one of THE biggest crisis of the 21st century

In November Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych’s government declared it was abandoning an agreement with the European Union (EU) and however was seeking cooperation with Moscow. This was believed to have started the conflict, there was Protestors who took the streets disagreeing with this move, and instead took sides with Europe and not Russia. Crimea has its own parliament however has been part of Ukraine since the 1950s, under the federal Ukraine constitution and capital of Kiev. In 1991 Ukraine declared independence from Russia and were given rights but not the right to secede. Due to this conflict, the government said to have been torturing jail mates and harassing the innocent people. The White House and the European Union have declared the issue in Crimea a violation of International Law and that Putin’s moves may risk war.

What are your views? What should the President of America do? Should he get involved?
